Cameron Green Facts

  1. A child prodigy, Cameron had started playing for the Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club when he was just 10 years old, in the 2009-10 season in the under-13 league. He had made his WACA (Western Australian Cricket Association) first-grade debut aged just 16.
  2. While he was still a schoolboy, he had earned a rookie contract with Western Australia ahead of the 2016-17 season of the Sheffield Shield (the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in Australia) after he had averaged 82 runs per innings with the bat and scalped 20 wickets with the ball in 8 games in the under-19 national league.
  3. He had made his first-class debut in February 2017, for Western Australia, in the Sheffield Shield. He had made an immediate impression, with a spell of 5/24 in that match against Tasmania.
  4. His first 30 first-class wickets had come at a spectacular average of just 22.53 but stress fractures in his back had severely limited his bowling in the ensuing years. He did not play any first-class cricket in the 2017-18 season and had spent the 2018 winter at Cricket Australia‘s (the governing body for the sport in the country) National Performance Centre in Brisbane.
  5. He had made his maiden first-class century during the 2019-20 Sheffield Shield season. In that match, he had produced scores of 87 runs not out and 121 runs not out to help his team earn a highly unlikely draw against Queensland. He went on to score 2 more centuries that summer before recording a career-best score of 197 runs, against New South Wales.
  6. He had made his test match debut in December 2020, against India. Although he was on the selectors’ radar for a few months, his inclusion in the national test team’s playing XI was hastened after he had scored a hundred for Australia A in a warm-up match against the touring Indian team, just before the test series.
  7. In March 2021, he had scored his first double century (251 runs) in first-class cricket, in a game against Queensland during the 2020–21 Sheffield Shield season.
