Tacko Fall is a Senegalese professional basketball player who has represented the Boston Celtics (2019–2021) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (2021–2024) in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a center. He has also turned out for the Maine Red Claws (2019–2020) and the Cleveland Charge (2021–Present) in the NBA G League, the NBA‘s official minor league basketball organization. He was selected in the ‘NBA G League All-Defensive Team’ in 2020. At 7 ft 6 in (228.5 cm), he was among the 50 tallest people alive in the world in February 2024 and the tallest player in the NBA or any of its associated leagues.

Tacko had attended the Jamie’s House Charter School, a 6-12 state charter school in Harris County, Texas. He had later studied at the Liberty Christian Preparatory School in Tavares, Florida. He had maintained a 4.0-grade point average (GPA) in high school and had taken advanced mathematics and science classes. After having moved to the United States at the age of 16, he had become fluent in the English language within 8 months.

He had then scored in the 95th percentile on the SAT, a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States.   1. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, Tacko’s life changed in 2011 when Senegalese basketball coach Ibrahima N’Diaye, the brother of former NBA player Mamadou N’Diaye, had spotted his talent.
  2. Ibrahima had then convinced Tacko’s mother to allow him to start attending his basketball academy and had eventually persuaded her to send him to the United States, which his mother had agreed to when he was 16.
  3. While playing basketball for Jamie’s House Charter School, he had helped his team win the state championship.
