In Madden 23, it’s not unusual to find yourself in the middle of breaking out a huge play, only for a defender to quickly close in and stop you at the line of scrimmage. In these situations, it would be ideal to take what little momentum you have left to pick up a couple of extra yards by diving through or over your opponent.

In this guide, we will break down everything you need to know about how to dive in Madden 23.

How to Dive in Madden 23

Diving in Madden 23 is a very simple maneuver, even with the multiple forms of dives that are available in the game. In previous guides, we’ve touched on how to hurdle and slide in Madden 23 as a ball carrier and quarterback. So, this guide will primarily focus on diving forward as a ball carrier and over top of linemen.

Diving forward as a ball carrier can come in handy when there’s just a couple of yards between you and the sideline or goal line. One option is to just go down and avoid any chance of losing possession of the football. However, another option would be to dive forward with the ball outstretched to pick up as many additional yards as possible.

Obviously, there’s more risk with the second option as you’d be leaving your player wide open for a big hit mid-dive. However, with football being a “game of inches”, it could also be the difference between winning and losing. So, the key is to make sure that there’s a safe distance between you and the defender.

To dive in Madden 23, all you need to do is;

  • Press and hold X (for Xbox) or Square (for PlayStation) while controlling the ball carrier.

It’s important to note that you need to press and hold down these buttons to activate a dive near the endzone or sideline. Although, if you can’t find any holes to run in between your offensive linemen, you can also dive overtop of them to pick up the yards instead. Which can be done by simply holding down X (for Xbox) or Square (for PlayStation) as you approach the offensive line.
